  We use version 10 of laravel and we use php 8.2 and yes we use a mysql database, but you can configure to use another database like postgresql or others.

  How do I get the script to load from the root directory? (For example "domainname.com" ) For some reason, it is loading from "/public" -- so when I enter my main URL, all I see are the files and folders of the script. I have to click on the visible "public" folder in order to view the website. So right now as is, I have to load "domain.com/public"
  
  Because of that, any biolinks created also load from the /public directory -- "domain.com/public/biolinkname"
  
  How do I get it to load to "domain.com/biolinkname" instead?

  Also, are there file permissions that need to be set elsewhere. The documentation did not cover many things. I tried to customize the appearance settings (logo, favicon, etc) but they don't get updated as expected. Also, when I try to change the Registration settings on admin side to "Disable" registration, the settings do not hold.
  
  Is there a config area somewhere that I'm missing to set?

  Other observations:
  - On profile setting, adding to "Short Bio" text does not display on BioLink
  - Biolink setting for content block "Images" -- destination URL does not work. Image is displayed, but the image remains unclickable and does not redirect the visitor to the "Destination URL" that is designated in the settings
  
  There may be other bugs to the script, but I've only focused on the BioLinks and Admin settings at this time.

  Will I lose the existing data? The documentation does not include instructions or precautions to take for updates. Do I just upload and overwrite all existing files on the previous installation, or do I need to make database changes too?

  To avoid losing data, you can save only the public folder and the .env file and replace the other files and folders.

  To work with the overlay option, it's useful and used when you create a shortening link and you have to choose a link that accepts this possibility of putting an iframe on your site and you'll choose your overlay that you've created.
